Can someone confirm for me that the gold boomerang wheels are anodized, not painted? I want to get those adapters done to match.

As far as I am concerned, they are anodized.

You wouldn't believe how may different opinions there usually are about things.

It will probably be very hard to match. I would either leave it silver (maybe polish) or maybe have it powdercoated gloss black

I have a set of gold boomies and can confirm that they are indeed anodized. Finding someone to anodize to match them has been impossible, but you can give it a go.

Yeah, I'm stoked about it. It'll look even better when everything's blacked out instead of bare aluminum. I'm really looking forward to getting some fresh EBC HH pads on there and feeling how everything works when they're properly bedded in. A 2-line braided stainless setup is going on today and I'm supposed to pick the bike up next Sat morning.

I am undecided about what to put on those awful reflector mounting bosses on the fork lowers. If I'd had them in hand before they went for rebuild I would have ground them smooth - and if they ever need a full service again I think I will. But for now I'm stuck with 'em. I'll probably just spin on some 81-82 reflectors and try not to think about it.

On Saturday I sat on the bike and made vroom vroom noises for the first time since Oct.

The riding position with the superbike bars on the taller top triple and the lowered pegs from Knight feel like they'll be better, but you can only guess so much from 3 minutes of playing around.

Likewise, sitting still those upgraded brakes feel amazing. Lever is rock hard. I can't wait to feel how they work with the pads bedded in!

I know a guy named Goeff who can do it perfectly. If you were at the winter meet in Columbus a few years ago, his presentation was awesome.

The quality & informational value of posts in this thread is gonna skyrocket when I have the bike back in my possession so I can post pics and riding impressions.

COME ON, SPRING!!!

Right now, the bike is in another shop for fabrication of a chain guard, mounting of a speedo sensor, and a handlebar swap. The current shop might do the installation of my new gauges, too - it depends on when the gauges arrive and how long this shop is willing to let the bike take up space while waiting for parts.

in another thread about painting valve covers someone used ceramic coatings, I'd never heard of ceramic coatings so I looked into it and there are a large number of metallic color options including gold. It has opened a lot of possibilities other than the traditional paint and chrome .

is that your black cbx in the picture. if so where did you find the orange plug wires? I'd need some for my new Dyna coils, orange would go nice with my SS translucent orange brake lines.

Yes, that's my bike. They're actually red Accel wires.

wyly: Check out Harley Davidson parts suppliers. Screaming Eagle sells orange spark plug wires. I have some on my FXSTS. Length may be a problem.
