Welcome to the site, Steve.
An unridden '82 could be worth a pile of money to a museum or a collector.
But the idea of being able to ride and enjoy a brand new CBX would be difficult to pass up.
Old Hondas, you say. I have a '66ish CB160 and am now poking at a '66 S90.

New CBXes still in the crate are really rare. I personally know of only one. It is a 1979. As soon as you "set it up" and ride it, it will become just another low mileage 1982 and the value will drop. Many restored and modified CBXes are probably "better than new". While there may be only a few around who will be willing to pay top $$$ for a crated '82, it is still worth quite some money. If you have the funds and room to keep it in the crate, do so. Or see if you find a collector who wants to put it on display and would buy it. For the money, you can probably get a good condition "rider".

+1, it's going to need new tires and a lot of other rubber parts and the brakes gone through, and then it's not original any more. You have bonafide Honda Japanese air in the tiresEMS wrote:New CBXes still in the crate are really rare. I personally know of only one. It is a 1979. I'll give you $3,000 for it!NobleHops wrote: Sell it and buy a rider!

Just kidding of course. If it were a low mileage original, I would say ride it. But crated and un-assembled, I would say leave it alone, store it away properly, and find a nice rider. Who knows what it will be worth say 10 years from now!
