Re: Suspension Upgrades
WOW - no, I didn't.
Has anyone successfully installed these on Pro Link forks? Almost everything in decorative fork caps for 39mm is for Harley stuff, and there's no guarantee that they'll fit. That's why I'm going custom. But if these things actually work and can save me a few hundred bucks I'm all for it.
EDIT: the listing doesn't say anything about what they fit, but the installation video shows only Harleys in the background.
The cap for a 39mm Harley may fit, but it's very unlikely as these things are not standardized. For example, the 41mm Suzuki forks for an SV650 use different caps than the 41mm Suzuki forks for a DR650.

I'll ask about the fitment on the forum that I got the eBay ad from and let you know.

Re: Suspension Upgrades
Looks like they will fit a CB900 39mm forks, thread size should be the same as the CBX 39mm. The part number and EBay seller in the link I posted above are the same that he used.
Here's the guys testimonial;
SUCCESS!!! Finally something goes on the bike without a hitch. They look pretty cool too. Little cap/plugs in the middle come out so I won't have to take the clipons apart to change the oil.

Re: Suspension Upgrades
WOW. If this is the case, then I have a feeling that standard Harley 39mm fork caps should also fit. Kreater should have plenty of those around, I'll ask them to compare. But what makes us think that the 900 and CBX fork caps can interchange?

Re: Suspension Upgrades
Well, the cap arrived yesterday. It took 2 weeks, which isn't really that bad for international USPS. I was just getting cranky because of some other mix-ups.
Anyhow, if Sportster caps fit CBX forks, then something like this would make a lot of sense, IMO:
I'm getting on the horn with some Harley dealers today to try to figure this out.

Re: Suspension Upgrades
Options are good.
It's easy to get frustrated when a build has a lot of moving pieces to it but after your project is done and dialed in you know you will look back at the hurdles you overcame with a sense of accomplishment and it all will have been worth it every time you sling a leg over your CBX.

Re: Suspension Upgrades
Agreed.
I am finding some interesting info as I do this research, but don't wanna post half-truths. I'll update this thread when everything is sorted out and finalized.

Re: Suspension Upgrades
Considering that the Sportster has Showa forks, they may as well work...

Re: Suspension Upgrades
It's funny, I was getting irritated but held off on bitching here, but then when I did Jeff pointed me in a new direction that looks like it will pay off very well. I'll have more concrete information to share hopefully within a week.

Re: Suspension Upgrades
Phil: I'm not sure if this would be of any help, but the plugs that the Prolink is using in the 39mm air forks was first released for the 81 Goldwing. That part was the same for the 81 CB900F.
The threads are obviously all the same on these bikes.

Re: Suspension Upgrades
Forks are currently winging their way to Woodstock, GA. Hopefully I'll have some good news that's of interest to others on this board by the end of next week...

What prompted you to switch your suspension tuner to Traxxion Dynamics?Syscrush wrote:Forks are currently winging their way to Woodstock, GA. Hopefully I'll have some good news that's of interest to others on this board by the end of next week...
