Chain guard mount has to be redone anyhow to work with my new custom swingarm. I suspect that I'll end up needing a new chain guard fabbed from scratch anyhow.

Interference likely is with the spring. With a clevis bottom mount, you're kind of stuck with that.

Where is the interference, Nils? I would assume these can be installed with the reservoir on top as it is angled downward.
Here's the first Works shock they made for me:

More recently I bought a set of their ProRacer shocks from FallDownPhil and they very lightly fouled the edge of my formerly NOS 1100F chainguard, which I very recently molested to make it fit. No pics of that. The operative thing is the distance between the eye of the clevis and the bottom of the spring cup.

Here are the Progressives I had on prior:

These still just touched the 1100F chain guard.

Hope that's helpful.

No, I meant the chain guard, but in the first case the Works shock also touched the stock SPROCKET guard too. Even the second go-round ProRacer shocks touched the chain guard too, and I had to cut a chunk out and do a little reshaping of the top. I'll try to remember to photo it tonight. It was a small price to pay for the improvement, but it's just something to be aware of.

The YSS shocks have an offset clevis option. With this, the shock moves out and may provide enough clearance! I did this on a set of Öhlins also with a replacement clevis I had someone make for me.

That's important information. I wish that YSS had provided it.

In theory I'll have all of my rear end parts ready to go on before the end of next week. I'm eager to find out what fits and what needs tweaking...

Incidentally, does that sprocket guard have any engineering value? I've seen them on some older bikes (maybe just Hondas), but nothing built in the last 20 years.

Fork cap was shipped yesterday by USPS, so it'll be a stretch for it to arrive before the end of next week. Shock revalving is still pending. I'm almost hoping for a late spring so I don't go crazy seeing the bike in parts when the warm weather comes... Hope my fellow motorcyclists can forgive me for those heretical thoughts!

The eye of the beholder? I'd say no, and it's pretty sturdy, so more rotating mass. Off with its head! :-)

OK, I'm going from anxious to irritated. Everything is waiting on that f'n fork cap. It finally cleared customs so it should be here any day. As soon as it gets here, I'll run it out to the machinist and then I'll find out what the next holdup is.

Refresh my memory, what is the machinist going to do to the fork cap?

Grind the ugly off it. It'll be cut down and then a lower profile hex cap will be applied to the top. It's for a mix of aesthetic and clearance reasons (I'm swapping to handlebars). Originally I was hoping/planning to also have it drilled out to accommodate the Cogent adjusters, but they don't fit in the fork, so that part of the plan has been scrapped.

I usually have good luck with USPS, but their handling of this shipment is crazy. It left NC on Jan 9, the day it was sent. Then it went and sat in FL until the 15th. hit customs and finally cleared on the 21st and that's the last update I have. Hopefully it shows up tomorrow so I don't have to take time off work to drive a part across town because it was sent to my home instead of straight to the machinist.

I'm a little late to the party but did you ever consider these custom fork caps, saw these on another CB site, BIN for $49.00
