I bought a set of these exhaust nuts on ebay but when I put them on the bike their gold color just does not look right. Are they supposed to be gold or are there other vendors who sell the silver/grey colored nuts that would seem to match better?
Thanks
Ross

Re: NOS Exhaust Nuts
Ross, these are pricey but they look to be the correct colour.

Re: NOS Exhaust Nuts
Or you could buy them direct from Honda for about $.75 each.

Re: NOS Exhaust Nuts
The rules for corrosion protective plating on fasteners have changed quite a bit in the last 30 years. Different colors may be caused by different processes. If you are really concerned about exact color matches to the original condition, you may have a problem. On the other hand, I have seen owners using hardware store collar nuts on the exhausts. I don't think it will take away from the value of the bike.

Re: NOS Exhaust Nuts
Yellow zinc is rated a bit higher than bright zinc for corrosion resistance.
Supposedly.
Ymmv.
I bought those same yellow nuts, too. I was more worried about the knurled pattern on the nut flange causing a problem with the coating on the exhaust collars. I think the original 1979 ones had "smooth" flanges.
I used my own judgement and split my project fasteners into two buckets for re-plating - one bright zinc, one yellow zinc.
Oh, and one black.
I'm not doing a showbike restoration, or I'd be in concourse judge's hell for more than just fastener sins.

Re: NOS Exhaust Nuts
If you're having plating done without concern for authenticity, try for cadmium. Better than zinc. Might be more difficult to find. Definitely better corrosion resistance.
