BTW, I'm documenting this in case others are facing the same questions. I decided to go with the 39mm setup for a few reasons:
1. The extra stiffness can't hurt.
2. The forks are so cheap I can send them to my suspension guy and have them built without taking my bike out of commission. If I'm buying a 2nd set anyhow I might as well go for the stiffer option.
3. My suspension guy is certain that he can fit modern cartridge internals into the 39mm fork as he's done them before. The 35's would be a "look and see" prospect. He has done this for 35mm BMW forks so it should be OK but I prefer the sure thing.

Also doing a Superbrace. I'm not crazy about the idea of adding unsprung weight, but with so much mass and so little fork, I think it'll be some extra peace of mind for me. Plus it lets me support a great CBX vendor. ;)
