CARB UNKNOWN SPACER

Can someone please inform me where this nylon spacer/washer is located on a 1981 CBX carb?
I overhauled the carbs and after putting everything together, I had this part left over and I have disassembled the carbs and cannot find a spot for it.
I have checked the Honda Manual and Mick Nixon's Carb booklet, but neither has mentioned or shown this part.
Hope someone can help.

I assume you tried to post a picture of the part, but we obviously can't see it. I can tell you if I can see it. There is a white nylon fitting on the accelerator pump arm. Also white nylon washers on the throttle plate shafts, but you probably didn't have them apart. Get a pic and we'll figure it out.

Viewed it on Diane's computer, must be a big file. Anyway the part is a washer/spacer from #3 carb throttle plate linkage - goes under the bent metal arm on the center linkage side of the carb. It's the only one that has that washer. Does not show in the parts fiche as it is considered part of #3 carb. Take off the connecting joint linkage - the 11mm- headed nut will let you get far enough to slip the washer onto the shaft under the end link. Watch where the flat side goes or it will bind. Not sure why you had that apart, but that's where it goes.

Hi Dave,
Are there two washers; l have already fitted one on the shaft, is there one on the other bank (No:4)?
The reason that it was taken off was because l over hauled the carbs.
Can you get the washer on with the carb fitted to the engine?

I'm sorry to interrupt the flow of information here, but some of us can't see the image of the questionable part above. Here is what I see.

This has happened before, and I thought it had been corrected, but obviously there is still something wrong. I don't know if it is my settings or board settings, or what. I'm only posting this so that hopefully someone knows how to fix it.

That's the only nylon washer on the carb bank throttle plate assemblies. #4 does not have one. Are your washers identical or is one perfectly round? If so, it goes on the bellcrank bolt, under the metal washer. Actually there are 2 round nylon washers on that assembly, one on each side of the pivot. You need them there to be sure the assembly shoulders up properly and to rotate against.

It is not necessary to remove any of the throttle plate assemblies to rebuild the carbs unless you have one that won't center properly.

I don't know the cause of that one. I've experienced it a few times through the years. It might be what Dave mentioned regarding file size. It showed on my screen; so, I had no idea that it might be difficult for some. If I get a 'fix', I'll let you know.

Thanks Larry for fixing the photo issue.

Sounds like l will have to tilt the engine again to remove the carbs to refit the washer and check the other one to make sure it is in the right spot; it will be a good job to look forward to at the end of summer. The reason for the complete disassemble was that l had to replace the rubber air tees and two joiners.
