how to set cams
I recently bought a basket case and my 79 motor is in pieces. I have a question when I install the 1 st. exhaust cam the book says to put the dots even with the engine case. I can’t seem to be able to get it in that position. The rear of the sprocket wants to be lower and the front wants to be a tad higher. Is this the correct position? Thanks for any all the help.

Re: how to set cams
I think, what you are facing is a stretched cam chain. It may not be an issue, if it is only slightly off. Some have elongated the holes for the screws in order to be able to rotate the gear into the exact position.
