Tim's CBX Cafe/Quarter Fairing

Anyone have any experience with one of these "Quarter Fairings" from Tim's? Do you like it? Does it deflect any wind, etc.? Does it create wind noise or buffeting?

Don't have experience with the part from Tim's, but I have/had the Emgo/Viper fairing, (which is very similar, if not the same) on several bikes. These fairings are mainly for looks.
They don't do anything for wind protection.
On a CBX, you would need soemthing a little more substantial along the lines of a Prolink fairing in order to get the wind going around you. And even on the Hondaline fairings, some change the windshield to a higher version.

I guess I'm surprised to hear that. For sure it's punching a good-sized hole in the air, I would think it would make highway riding a lot more comfortable, as long as it wasn't causing a lot of head-slap and other noisy buffeting. Not dissing you experience Mike, but does anyone else have experience with these they'd share?

I'd be intersted in hearing anyone's experience with similar small fairings/windscreens. I don't want to change the original look of the bike too much, which is why I was interested in the minimal "quarter fairing" from Tim's. Not really into the boxy fairing look of the '81-'82 CBX. Just looking for something unobtrusive looking that might bound some of the wind and bugs over my head.

I had a Shoei FM2 on my 79 for awhile, worked okay.

The reason it doesn't give you much protection is, that it sits too low and the upper contour - which is almost horizontal- is just not diverting any air over you. Just right into your chest.

I looked at the fairing on Tim's web-site again to make sure, and I am almost certain that this is the EMGO/Viper fairing that is sold by other retailers for $59.-. In black. Tim's just paints these in body colors and charges $399.-
You can see, how the fairing Jeff refers too would do a better job diverting air over your head as the windshield has an angle to it.

I have the Shoei on a '79, and it's fine. But, it had a cracked windscreen, so I bobbed it and eliminated an annoying buffet at chin level.

But, I prefer having my helmet in undisturbed air.

Richard, i have used a Suzuki S fairing on a '79 and '80.
A bit more substantial than the one from Tims. It offers good torso protection but your helmet will still get buffeted.
