Stump the Chump ----The Answer is..
You know how this works...right?
Recently I was out moving my POS of a CBX from one place to another in the garage. (Hint?.....The bike has flat tires).
I heard this sound "AARG...FewOWK" or something like that.
For 100 points what happened?
Only 50 points if you have to ask a question.
Good luck
James

Re: Stump the Chump
You spend too much time listening to "Click and Clack".
You backed over the cat?

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

hmmm...trying to move a 600 lb. bike with 2 flat tires, i am guessing that sound was you groaning and your lower back muscles seizing.

I have the great fortune of not having a cat - of course if I did... this would be a very good answer. (Eventually I'd get it)
x
Not the back muscles - that was later when rotating the engine on the stand. ..I must move the pivot point up to make it more balanced.
Thanks guys.... +25 for trying.... again?
Come on, somebody else must have done this...

Re: Stump the Chump
I'd say its the sound of the flattened portion of the tire squeezing through the fork and swingarm, and then coming back to rest on the flat spot. Time for new tires!

Re: Stump the Chump
I am at a loss. I first thought that too, but then I remembered that we let the air out of the rear tire on the old BMW Airheads in order to move the wheel off. The tire is actually not as wide when deflated and the wide "flat spot" should not occur at the point of the swingarm contact. The only thing that I can think of that the sound has someting to do with moving the bike on the centerstand.NobleHops wrote:I'd say its the sound of the flattened portion of the tire squeezing through the fork and swingarm, and then coming back to rest on the flat spot. Re: Stump the Chump
How about the sound from a rear shock with a blown seal?

NobeHops - I think the tire squeezing through swing arm has less of a "FewOWK" sound to it. Technically a good answer though +25
XXX
Larry. WHEN the bike is running you could be right on the money, however as it currently a POS (non running bike) and you mentioned I might need new skivvies, and I'm sensitive about that - MINUS 25
x
Steve. I think the rear shocks are so blown/original? the only sound they make is a slight grating noise with a little squeaking thrown in. +25 for trying and +25 for being polite and not mentioning my skivvies.

EMS. +1 only because I have to.. since you tried.

Take 2. try again?

Re: Stump the Chump
Due to the "new " flat tire geometry, the bike fell over / off the stand.

The sound your wife made as you scraped the clutch lever on the door of her new Mustang convertable?

Barry - technically a really good answer.....if the bike was on the side stand. I find my CBX is at tipping point (+/- ) with flat tires and on the side stand.
definitely +25 1/2 (at least better than Rick)

The sound your wife........................... ( +25 for giving me a wife. yippee )
made as you scraped the clutch lever....... ( -25 for giving me a clutch lever. it's broken off)
on the door of her new......................... ( -25 for giving me a new anything, unheard of)
Mustang....................................... .( -25 God forbid, a Mustang?)
convertible? .......................................( + 25 those are cool )
Assuming I can fit anything other
than a bike in my garage - very charitable.....(+25)
Human sound ...................................... (+25)
overall a lot of work for +25
Don't talk to EMS

EMS
Don't bother letting any air out of those shiny polished tires of yours...
Just add in my incompetence to the mix....

Re: Stump the Chump ----The Answer is..
Thanks guys.
I've now tired out a few and insulted the rest. Sigh, my mad skills are revealed.
Answer:
I have been around dirt or duel sport bike for the last little bit. Side stands are mostly what I am used to.
I found that special care is needed when moving a bike that weights about the same as two of my other bikes. For this bike "a CRAP ton" is about right. Flat tires on the CBX means the center stand has the weight force acting on it for longer as it comes up. My inexperience at how far the the end of the #*&%! center stand sticks out ended up causing me to "ARg.. Fewook".
After the stand had removed bark and dented my bone (< probably), I was bleeding, and somewhat hopping around the garage. I figured I can't be the only idiot on the planet to do this. Some of you guys must have done this too. Obviously I was wrong. My apologies in lumping you, at least one of you, in the same idiot box as me.
I had to sort of discredit EMS the most < he was about onto the center stand being involved. Some of the rest of you were close. Larry Z I'm still not talking to.
I had fun (and that's whats important right... er eh right?...) and it was good to hear from you guys. Thanks.
