Hi, new to the CBX world...

Post by eldo »

Hi everyone, after many years of admiring these bikes, I finally pulled the trigger at a swap last weekend. I am the proud new owner of a 1979 CBX 1000, in a descent number of peices. Was told it runs, but has a "bottom end noise"... has a bunch of receipts for a top end rebuild (valves, seals, etc...) but have yet to hear it fire. Cleaned the carbs on Tuesday, about to put them back on the bike tonight, wish me luck for tomorrow... I'm glad to know that there is a great resource here to help me bring this thing back to life. I look forward to using this forum to learn lots and meeting some great people in the CBX "knowledge".

Welcome eldo,
Congratulations on your new CBX. Sounds like you will have plenty to do to get it running but there are many here who will help you. Send us a few pics so we have an idea of what you are faced with.
Good luck.
Ross

Welcome !!!!!

Bottom end noise? Let's hope it was carbs that needed to be synched and causing a clutch rattle. :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

And post pics, many pics.

She fired up at 11:50pm last night, which holds true to my theory that bike projects will only fire up after all the neighbors have gone to bed... Seemed to sound OK, but didn't really get it too hot, as it was noisy and late. 1979, 88,000Kms, top end rebuilt (valves, seals, etc...)

There is quite a knock in there somewhere, though...
