Hello,
I just put a dana s ignition in my 79 cbx. I thought i had it wired up correctly. I put black, green, white wires to the left tabs on the stock coils and i jumped the three right tabs together. then the red one to the black with white stripe one on the brown (jack plug) that went to the old spark unit. is that where the red wire goes? Summer only last for three or four months of good riding weather here in Michigan, I'd like to ride the ol' gal before it's too late. The instructions i got were pretty much useless, as much so as the "talk thru" I got from the guy at "TIM'S CBX" . does anyone have pic's of a propper install.

Re: new dana s ignition , no spark!
Good question. I don't know. I downloaded the instructions and they are NO help whatsoever regarding that wire. Have you talked with Larry yet??

Here's the link to Tim's sheet:

Just got off the phone with Larry, and he said that the red wire needs to go to a key-switched 12V source, that's all that matters (on with ignition switch on, off when the switch is off).

Re: new dana s ignition , no spark!
By the way, you'll ideally want to find the switched 12V source that is also controlled by your kill switch so you'll still have that function. I suspect it's that black/white wire in your pic.
Good luck.
P.S. What happened with your stock ignition??
