Primary Chain Length Measurement

The shop manual demands two primary driven sprockets in order to check the primary chain length ..
Any ideas how to assess the chain if one has only one as, I guess, most CBX mortals?
I am lucky to have an NOS chain ... Put side by side with my original, the latter is visibly longer, but this is a qualitative indication of stretch, at best.

Sorry I missed your post. However, I really can't help you much with this. I know they stretch - your used one there is probably typical of most running around out here.

Put differently, should I be looking anywhere else for a tel-tale sign, e.g. inside the cases? Some scratches?
I would like to avoid throwing away such an important and expensive part of the engine if it is still within spec ...
What is the process by which they become noisy (noisier?) as they stretch?
