Cam installation

Post by CopperCollar »

Well guys, I have a 79 that I am pulling the head off to inspect for bent valves and then reassemble. I see that my service manual is dated Aug 78...so section 6-22 last paragraph.

" Turn the crankshaft clockwise 360 until the "T" mark is aligned with the crankcase mating surface. Make sure the cam lobes for the #6 cylinder are toward the outside"

Is this correct? I would really hate to get the cams in wrong.

That should be the correct wording in this paragraph.
Check the bottom of the page. It should say Date of issue: August, 1978. The original version, as shown on bottom of page 6-23 says Date of Issue: March 1978.

Mucho Gracias.

Looks like the whole cam install is on the back burner, #1 rod is 10-7..bent like a dogs hind leg.
