Idle mixture screw source?

Post by steve murdoch icoa #5322 »

Another one of those not so pleasant discoveries from the dastardly previous owner, messed up idle mixture screws.
Should i be buying oem parts or are the ones that come in re-build kits good enough?
I wonder if they are still available.

Bob, thanks for the offer.
Right now i have a set of K&L rebuild kits that do contain the idle mixture screws. I have seen in some of the older threads about the poor quality of certain aftermarket carb parts, usually pertaining to needles and rubber bits.
If i do end needing some oem parts i will contact you.

It may be a good idea to try to get your hands on a spare set of carbs for parts. Something incomplete and less expensive to obtain components from. I know, it may be difficult, but ever so often an opportunity pops up and should not be missed. I bought banks of carbs for less than $80.-

I have not had, nor have I heard of any problems related to using the aftermarket pilot screws. The aluminum washers supplied with them are not so good - save the original ss ones if you can.
