Paper air filter
I think my 80 is running a bit lean and as I currently have a K&N filter I was thinking of trying one of the paper ones to see if that makes a difference. Trouble is while I can find paper filters for the 81 and 82 CBX's I see nothing for an 80. Does anyone know who sells them? Thanks Ross.

Re: Paper air filter
I have always had the best performance with the oem foam air filter.
What are the lean conditions you are experiencing?

Re: Paper air filter
Leave the K&N in there, and run through a dust storm, all will be well. Really, a fresh K&N is not enough restriction for these bikes. Honda seemed to get it right w/ the OEM filters.
I have a K&N in the stock airbox on my '79, and a SupperTrap w/ 7 discs. With the filter looking pretty dirty, it runs great.

I have been trouble shooting a misfire/hesitation issue btw 2000 and 4000 rpm since I bought the bike in Nov. Here's a post with more details.

I do not have the original filter so thought the next best bet was to try a paper filter to add a bit more restriction. I guess I could put some tape around half of the K&N filter and see what that does?

Re: Paper air filter
Why can't you use the paper filter for an 81/82 in your 80? You replace the whole metal element with the drop-in for the Prolink.ajs350 wrote: Trouble is while I can find paper filters for the 81 and 82 CBX's I see nothing for an 80. Does anyone know who sells them? Thanks Ross.

Re: Paper air filter
My K&N is round and from the pictures on-line it looks like the 81/82 filter is oval. Will it still work on my 80?EMS wrote:Why can't you use the paper filter for an 81/82 in your 80? Re: Paper air filter
Thanks EMS. I'll get one ordered. Certainly beats riding through a dust storm with Rick.

Re: Paper air filter
Is there any significant difference in the OEM Honda '81 / '82 paper filter and EMGO's ?
Specifically in the engine performance?
