Dyna S Ing. Install help

About to install a new Dyna S ing. system and new Dyna coils on my 79 X. After removing the old spark units I now need a 12 volt power supply. If anyone has done this before I would appreaciate any ideals for the 12v source. I do not want to damage the bikes wiring harness if possible. Any ideals/suggestions welcome.

JT, I think your question was answered on the Brewer line but I'm going to post the answer from Mark Sproul here for others to see.

The instructions that I have for the Dyna S are very clear about

this, the top side of the coils are connected to +12, this is where

you are supposed to connect the +12 to the Dyna S unit. Also note,

the spark pickup plate is ground. Some of the years of the CBX had a

small 4 pin connector on the coils, these connectors are available

and you can install one on the end of the cable from the Dyna S.

I just installed the dyna s on my 79 CBX and i have no clue where to get a 12 power from to light the coils... the red wire from the pickup plate has no power .. i have it all hooked per Dynas paper work or lack of paper work ... The coils have to have a 12 power supply to fire ... The green , black and the white are hooked the the - side of the coils and the red is hooked to the top and from there linked to each coil ...But somewhere the has to be a switched 12 volt power to the coils ..Thanks Lee..

Hi, Glad Mark was able to help you quickley. I made up a power supply like the origonal. I bought some length of 16 ga wire and some slip on and spade connectors from the Honda dealer. I used three slip on connectors and made it just like the hot coil harness wire, and on the other end I used one female spade connector from the dealer as it matched the connector in the main harness. You can take a safety pin and remove the plastic two pin connectors from the spark unit and reuse it to hook up to the main harness for a factory look.
