Over the next several weeks (or possibly months) I going to attempt a rebuild of my carbs. I picked up a copy of Mike Nixons' book. seems kind of straight forward
I have a few questions....
1. The air "T"s seem to have been removed by the previous owner. Are they necessary?
2. According to Mike Nixon, the motor must be tilted in order to remove the carbs. True? Alternate method?
3. I have access to an ultrasonic cleaner. Any particular cleaner to use?
4.The mounting rails could use a facelift. Any particular method?
Thanks for the replies........

The air Ts are optional. I think Mike makes that clear in his book.
Tilt the engine - that's according to Honda, Mike, and anyone else with the stock airbox and does not want to ruin expensive parts. But get a Honda shop manual before you do it - there are lots of little things to do before tilting the engine. You can tilt successfully without removing the pipes, however. That's not in the manual.
Never used an ultra-sonic cleaner - can't help you there.
You can have any of the bright parts zinc plated as long as the plater is willing to use a brightener.
It will make you a nice winter project where you can take your time and do a good job. Good luck!
