Gear Shift Spindle Seal
It looks like I can replace the gear shift spindle seal from the outside without removing the case cover. Has anyone tried this?

I have not tried this. But removing and replacing the cover is no big deal. It is easier than removing the clutch cover. Just take care of the oil. And RR of the spindle seal will be a breeze with the cover removed. It will make sure you will only need to buy one new one...

Thanks! That would be the prudent thing to do; I don't even know why I asked. I'll round up a cover gasket and change the seal during the next oil change.
