Another Resurrection Of An '80

Post by EMS »

Now with Nils almost done and zxbob in the middle of a restauration, I will have to dig deeper into the '80 that I aquired in February.
First, I just wanted an engine. When the motor came with the frame, it looked like putting a whole bike together would be fairly easy...
All I wanted to do is get her complete and running. When I started to adjust the valves, I found two cam holder bolts broken.
Off comes the head, to extract the stubs.
Now it has to get new valve seals, new valves and valve seats recut. Oh boy. Project.

I know there is a better site for specific 900F issues, Steve, but there is a lot of similarity in the early 80s Honda DOHC bikes. Some of it may be applicable to what your are doing. You just have to put up "dancing in several weddings at the same time" as we say in Germany. Contrary to popular belief you CAN do it! :D :D :D

I was working a special schedule this week :D :
5 days of vacation.
Going into the office every day and attenting to some important business issues for an hour   .
Changing clothes and working on the '80 which sits in the shop, for 3-4 hours.. So far it is only work on the head. I am taking a lot of pics. 8) 8)
Cleaning up and going home to work on some projects around the house for 3-4 hours.
Taking a shower and having a Rum Runner (my own mix recipe) or two.
Before I will post the progress on the head work, we will have to move this thread to "Restorations" because I don't want it to clog up the "General Discussions...." section.

OK, WHAT'S GOING ON HERE!

We're all in the mood for some more entertainment. What's the general plan with this project Mike, and hows it coming? :D

Sorry guys, no progress. I am totally swamped at work and have not done anything on the bike recently. The head is back on and it is waiting for valve adjustement. After that, a preliminary assembly will be done in order to fire the engine up and see if it is running at all.
