Has anyone been able to find a good match for the matte finish color of the 1979 side covers??
I have a pair that are painted purple and want to strip them down, very lightly sand them, then repaint. I KNOW the good painters will butt pucker when I say this but would like to be able to use a "rattle can" color for the repaint.
Anyone done this before and willing to share your method(s) and the paint brand and color you used?
Thank you,
Ricardo

Re: Restoration of 1979 sidecovers
I've had good luck with Krylon's semi-gloss black in a spray can for various other projects, including painting plastics. Duplicolor also makes a good line of products and you might see what they have. No harm in trying a low cost alternative since you can always sand it off again.
