Batteries Plus
Ok, the 82 CBX has been sitting now since '04 and know it is time to get it ready for the road again. First off is a new battery and get it started, hoping that I don't have to take the carbs off, :| . Since there is a Batteries Plus down the street from work, I have checked their website for something for the X. They list a couple of different ones and was wondering if anyone has had any luck with their batteries and which would be best. Or is there some other opinions out there.

Re: Batteries Plus
Could you list the ones you're interested in, also listing the CCAs? They should have 300 or more. I have a Scorpion and a Westco in mine and the Westco is in its 6th year...thanks to a Deltran Battery Tender Jr. I assume.

Re: Batteries Plus
Rick I recently bought a Diehard Gold AGM battery from Sears and it cranks hard and my bike starts instantly. I have not had it for long so I can't comment on longevity, and Sears is coy about it's CCA, but so far so good. $95 as I recall.

Re: Batteries Plus
300 CCA or more? Ok that narrows the choices they have down 3. Here are the links;

Looks like the permaseal one has the most CCA and is reasonably priced.

Re: Batteries Plus
Either of the top two listed. The have some heft to them (17-18 pounds) and are sealed. The bottom one is open and weighs less than 13 pounds. Keep the one you choose in great shape with a battery tender...and go riding!

Yea, battery tender is a good idea this time. I never used one and ended up replacing the battery every year or so. Not this time around.

Re: Batteries Plus
Just picked up the battery today;
http://www.batteriesplus.com/product_se ... ttery.aspx
Since the website didn't specify, I got the store to honor the web price, $80.99 sale. I also picked up a Battery Tender Jr and got it also for the web price of $26.99. Buying them together got me another $10 off for the package. Guess they want you to keep the battery charged when not riding,
Look over to my other thread for how I am doing getting it ready for the road, "Steps for starting after storage";

Hopefully I will have no surprises.
