Vendors available
I poached some of this from another thread: USEFUL INFO
For a good catalogue and cross reference list, as well as a huge stock of OEM and replacement parts, try:
http://www.cmsnl.com
They also have a 'wishlist' page and a forum to discuss parts as well as technical issues. Very professional setup.
--
Louis Mintrone is an ICOA member, and has a large inventory of NOS and used parts. He's gonna have just about anything. Very helpful, very responsive:
http://www.usedcbxparts.com
When you buy used parts, it is my advice to always get a picture of the actual part you are buying. Saves a lot of time in discussions afterwards. Perception of condition is different in everybody.
--
Bill Brint from Tim's CBX also has a lot of parts, somewhat concentrated in engine stuff, but he's got lots of other stuff too, suspension stuff, etc. Bill has commissioned some reproductions of unavailable items too. Like Louis, Bill is super helpful, responsive, knowledgeable, the works:
http://timscbx.com/
--
David Silver Spares is in the UK, and seems well regarded here. Similar to CMSNL they purchase large stocks of NOS parts and list them available and catalogued to the needy collectors like us:
http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/
--
For parts searches, I have taken to using these folks' online fiche, in part because they indicate whether or not an item is available or not right in the fiche. I hate to admit it though, I usually order elsewhere.

Ron Ayers is another possible resource, as with all of these suggestions, check things out for yourself. Prices can be good and you can often Google search for a discount code.

OldBikeBarn will surprise you now and then, and they occasionally deeply discount their stuff:
http://www.oldbikebarn.com
--
Here's Service Honda's site, previously mentioned:
http://www.servicehonda.com/
--
Randakk's is another specialty shop for vintage stuff, might be an ICOA member too, well regarded for several specialty items, site has lots of good info and advice:
http://www.randakks.com/
--
You need to know about Mike Nixon (another ICOA guy), as he will service carbs, sells a few good booklets, and is THE MAN for just about any topic he opines on. His site has a lot of priceless technical info:
http://www.motorcycleproject.com
--
Six Center in Holland does some cool stuff, is having reproduction parts made for turnsignal housings, etc, and other impossible to find stuff.
http://www.sixcenter.nl/
--
I found these guys who seemed to have some hard-to-find items at very reasonable prices, have not used them yet though:
http://www.hondarestoration.com
--
There is a cool guy on CBXWorld named JR (not sure if he reads here), and he runs a little outfit called CBXtras with some odds and ends. Can't find a site for him just now, perhaps others will chime in.
--
There is an eBay vendor, TAS Classic Motorsports that sell cheap, ships fast and cheap, well regarded. I have bought a bunch of stuff from them:
http://stores.ebay.com/TAS-Classic-MotorSports
--
Several of the guys here have little cottage industries, making one-off items now and then. They don't really advertise, and they do it more for love than money it seems, but keep your eyes and ears open and you may be surprised at what offers for help you get. Also, although parts can be expensive, many of the guys here have stashes and will sell stuff to other members very reasonably. If you can't find what you need, post a 'wanted' and see what turns up.
Please mention any other vendors and or good or bad experiences so we can keep this list current and add comments where necessary.

I don't think he likes us here:80 cbx dude #6216 wrote:J.R. offers complete alternator conversion kits-do it yourself kits and adapter plate kits-These alternators are first rate items. His email is jrluksik at wow dot com.-Mike
I somehow never did like the ICOA nor felt welcomed there
I suspect that a year or so from now they'll be out of business due to all of this stuff

Well I'm happy to report that J.R. just created a login today, so perhaps he's willing to reconsider.EMS wrote:I don't think he likes us here:80 cbx dude #6216 wrote:J.R. offers complete alternator conversion kits-do it yourself kits and adapter plate kits-These alternators are first rate items. J.R., you make really awesome products by all accounts and your customers seem to love you. Glad to have you back on the site, even if just to read.
N.
P.S. J.R. if you reply with the web address of your enterprise, I'll add it to the post here, and the other one I made in the restorations thread.

Let's just say that I was asked to come over and be part of the group by a few respected ICOA members and thanks for the invite.
I have a great deal of CBX knowledge that I'm happy to share with anyone that can benefit from it and at the same time, keep an open mind to new ideas.
Correction to Mike's posting above:
My email is: jrluksik@wowway.com
Drop me a note if you have any questions.
Glad to be here, I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy already.
