Hi Dan
Your pix this time are the best of the best times for me.....and that is being at rallies and with other CBXers, going on rides and eating together... and just talking.
For your pictures all of those were rallies or get together werehere on the East Coast and I know most of the people in them.
Photo 1 is at the Morganton, NC National.
Photo 2 was an full week informal get together at Snowshoe, WV a couple of years ago where Aaron rented a two floor ski chalet. High point was Kazu flying in from Japan to be with us...........he is taking the photo.....and the magazines are ones he brought from Japan for everyone.
Photo 3.......I am 85% sure this was Rick Popes C2C Rally, but I am not sure where sooooooooooo maybe this one is not on the East Coast. Rick ...can you help on this one
Photo 4.....is VA National last year....which will return to the rally schedule in 2009
Thanks Dan for bringing back all those memories
Mike

With very few if any exceptions, ALL rallies are on the east coast...

The meeting in Colorado was a good thing. We could do this again. What else would be a good place, distance-wise
The area around Sturgis, SD? Several years ago, I proposed New Mexico. Ruidoso has two rallies per year, one in May, the other in September and they are not too crowded to make it impossible to have a rally within a rally. And there is also the Sandia rally.

See rally pictures below
>>>>>>
I am guessing we have had 50 to 75 rallies in and about the Eastern United States over the years.
We have had large rallies with 200-225 attendees and 100 CBXs and rallies where only a few showed up.
We have had events where the best roads in the East started right in front of the rally site.......and......other events where it took 45 minutes to get to the great roads........but most had great roads to ride.
We have had rallies that lasted only one day and others like the C2C that lasted weeks.
We have had rallies where the food was the best ever (Sonestown for example..........and where the food was the worst........(Marlinton comes to mind)
We have had rallies where the scenery was the best the East has to offer and one where it was close to being the worst.
We have had rallies with 35 agenda items, tech sessions, Top Wrench contests and demo rides by manufacturers.........yet had others where none of this was the agenda.
Each of these rallies had things in common.......someone thought about it, cared enough to try, made a plan, found a rally site and did it.
>>>>>>
To me rallies, meeting CBXers and going on rides with new and lifelong friends was the only reason to belong to ICOA and help the club.
My view of ICOA at its best .....is .....it simply is motorcycle travel club where attending rallies, riding on roads that one could never find otherwise and spending time with friends became some of the best times of my life....year after year.
Now that I look back on my last 28 years as a CBXer... I am absolutely sure that all this is true and will also be true for anyone that hosts an event or attends ICOA Rallies.
In the end...... it is a simple matter really ........there is a reason all the people in the rally pictures below are smiling and having fun
