alternator seal

can the alternator seal be taken out thru the front or does it drive in from the inside of the case ??? looks odd i am a master car mechanic but looks to me this seal id driven in from inside the case ??? anyone know ??

----The seal comes out from the back,take the alternator off,remove the nut for the driven clutch plate,then remove it.Separate the alternator halves and pop the seal out,then install the new one with the seal lip to the engine side.Reassemble the alternator,then reinstall the driven plate & locknut,then install on the engine and away we go!!!
