trouble with my X

Post by cbxtacy »

Boy they can be troublesome, can't they Larry. My long distance 82 has been difficult starting for a year or so. When you push in the starter button, sometimes (most times) you have to wiggle it a bit for the little copper pieces in it to make a connection. I return from over the road and it won't start. Different throttle switches have varied starter switches in them. They're not all the same, you have early, late, and European with light switch. So I pulled my switch, dis-assembled it, and cleaned it. Put it back together and-viola-it didn't start. Then I think-It could be the solenoid-and in 10 minutes I replace the solenoid and it starts great. I don't have to wiggle the switch so it did need cleaning. Now I'm happy.

think of your three closest friends, if they're okay then
YOU'RE THE ONE

Screwdiver across the solenoid isolates the peripheral contacts George, I only wished it worked for my "X" wives....
