As Dave said, a good bench synch will essentially eliminate the need for a bike synch. When you are doing the bench job be certain to open and close the throttles a few times with every tweek. And, be certain there is NO play in the little ball joints between each of the throttle shaft links. Time spent doing a bench synch is well worth it.

Thanks for the tips.

I have 4 sync gauges and the sync tool, so my plan is to fine-tune the sync on the bike.

After this I will need to get a replacement choke, but doubting whether I have the European or US model. Does anyone know of an easy way to check this?

Do you mean a replacement choke cable? There were three different lengths offered - standard high-bar '79-'80, standard bar Pro-Link, sport kitted US/Canada bikes and World market bikes. I think the World market Pro-Links had the same choke cable as the sport kitted early models.

If you mean something else, please clarify.

I’m with Dave, are you referring to the cable or the choke perch on the clip ons?
