I have a doubt when de engine is cold

Post by MagnusXII »

Hi everyone. I have a pro link bike and when it stars, i have to hold the throttle more than 10 minutes because if not, it stops. After that, when the engine is hot it works fine. Another problem is when i leave it more than three days without starting, then it is difficult to start to the point of running out of battery. Is it normal?
Any help?

Thanks

There are many others who know more than I and hopefully can help. However, my thought is that your carburetor choke mechanism is not working.

Thanks for your answer, is there any way to check it? And where is it placed exactly.
It's been my father's motorcycle and now I'm updating it.

You need to do a comprehensive recommissioning of the entire motorcycle. This starts with a complete carb rebuild. Then you can address the quirks these bikes have with starting from that perspective. Your very slow warm-up is indicative of clogged idle/slow speed circuits, as is partially the very hard starting. The vacuum valve hurts you there, there are ways to overcome that. But it is doubtful your accelerator pump is working at all. It is your friend when cold starting if it is working. But you must have the carbs correctly functioning to realize the best starting.
