Cylinder Install Question

Post by haden2342 »

Hello,

I've got my cylinders installed and it went pretty smoothly but I noticed that they aren't quite all the way down flush with the base gasket and crankcase. I've went around tapping with a rubber hammer, but I can't get it to go the rest of the way. I'm not sure what it could be hung up on other than maybe the studs. The engine spins freely. Is there any reason why I couldn't put the head on and draw it down the rest of the way with the head nuts? I was thinking just throw the old head gasket on it and tighten the head down lightly to see if that works.

They often sit up a bit if you didn’t remove and clean the locating dowels. Installing and torquing the head will pull it tight.
