New member from south west UK

Post by Bassy »

Hi everyone,
After a warm welcome from Larry Zimmer I thought I would introduce myself.
In 1978, my secondary school, for some bizarre reason, put on a motorcycle show in the school hall. My friends and I went along and on entering the hall our jaws hit the ground as we were greeted by the vision that was the CBX 1000 on an elevated stand. It was in gleaming silver and I still remember the poster given to me by the dealer that stated, 1000cc, 105bhp and 24 valves. That poster was on my bedroom wall for many years!!
Fast forward 44 years, 34 of them as a fire fighter, 2 kids, 1 wife (and divorce) I have finally achieved my ambition of purchasing a CBX…it is a 1982 model in need of restoration. I am looking forward to using the resources on this forum and reaching out with the numerous questions I am sure I will have! And am sooooo excited about my new project :-)

Welcome Chris, great timing because there have been 3 or 4 full 81/82 documented restorations here on the forum the past year, a couple are ongoing now.

Hi Chris,

Not too many British guys on here but it is a helpful forum. I actually bought the bike from your poster in June 2020 and have been to several UK rallies on it organised by these guys - https://ukcbxclub.com/

You might like to consider joining and hopefully taking your bike to them too.

P.s - I think the bike is superb :D
