Difference between HM422 and HM469

Post by Bill Kemp »

Hello folks

Trying to get your expert opinion on the aftermarket pipes. The ones sold by David Silver Spares I have been told are exact copies of the HM422 pipes made for the 1979 CBX

My bike is a 1980 CBX that has HM469 pipes on it.

So

Is there a difference in the pipes or is it just a manufacturing number change

I was advised they would fit perfectly on my bike but it as always good to check before dishing out 💰 on a future purchase.

Thanks

Bill

Honda claims the internal baffling is different on the 469 pipes. You'll likely never find a set of mint 469 pipes, although I have a set, but only for trade for an equally minty original 422 set. I've seen the newest edition of the David Silver reproductions and they are pretty nice. A bit better than the Delkevics, I think. There will be no problem bolting on a reproduction 422 set of pipes.

Thanks Dave

That's all I need to know. When the cash is available I will buy a set of aftermarket ones from DSS. I don't mind it being aftermarket pipes.

Thanks buddy

Billy
