Re: No power when key is turned on
Ospho is an excellent finishing step to passivate derusted steel, and leaves the surface with a protective coating. Vinegar is actually not a great choice for derusting, leaves steel in a vulnerable condition. Phosphoric (Ospho) or Oxalic are both better choices, and reusable.

Re: No power when key is turned on
Getting more tools is never a bad thing but you don't need a brass punch to install the pressed in idle jets.
A wood dowel works fine, in fact I use a pencil. When the shoulders of the jet land you will feel it.

Re: No power when key is turned on
Editorial comment - everyone should have a set of brass punches. FWIW, I seat my pressed-in jets a lot more firmly than a pencil will stand.
Forgot to comment on the vacuum valve. Yes, it should be taken apart and inspected/cleaned. It can fill up with tarry residue also. Take good photos before disassembly - it's hard to figure out how it goes back together, and I've taken apart a bunch of them.

If you don't have a brass drift, a wood dowel will do.

Re: No power when key is turned on
Well
I got the pressed in jets out. I used a 4-40 small tap and tapped out the top of the jet 2 thread turns.
Then I used a 4-40 bolt, nut and washer to gently pull out the jet
Worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip guys.
I used a rubber fuel hose and put the jet in it along with pliers to hold it while I removed the screw. I did not want to mar up the sides of the jet.
Now I can clean the jets and tap them back in (with either a brass punch or dowel) to seat them and they will be like new again
Woo hoo

Perfect, now run your carb bodies through the ultra-sonic again as there'll be more to get clean after removing the jets. Let me know when you get the jets tapped back in and before you assemble further. There are some passages you need to be certain are open and I'll tell you how. Do you still need the one mixture screw?

Re: No power when key is turned on
I have ordered an aftermarket mixture screw but I would prefer to put an original one back in to match the other 5 mixture screws

Re: No power when key is turned on
I am heating up the ultrasonic cleaner now to put the bodies back in again.
I will also put the jets in as well now that they are out and free. I still will clean them by hand though to ensure they are pristine before re assembly

Re: No power when key is turned on
Well. I cleaned up the jets. I took a few pictures of them. I used my pin drill bit set and cleaned out the holes by running the bit backwards so I did not take any metal off of the jet holes.
Drill bit size was #68 using the pin vice
Then I used 0000 steel wool to clean up the jets to get any grime off of them before I installed them again and gave them one last cleaning with brake cleaner on the jet and the carb before installation.
I used an aluminum spike to tap them back in place. My buddy has a milling machine and a metal lathe so we took some metal off the aluminum spike so it would fit nicely into the hole.
Thought you might want to see some photos

The sideways photo is appropriate for the subject.
Good that you got the jets cleaned.
