People are all getting upset because someone's bike sold for a LOT of money.

Don't bitch, be happy. This just means that EVERYONE'S CBX is worth more than it was a few weeks ago.

Those 2 bikes can be considered the new benchmarks.

So true, JR. Even a so-so good rider has about doubled in value the past two years. The rising tide thing!

I think the people bidding on that bike in the U-Tube video got carried away or have money to burn.
Could this be some sort of money laundering?
A bike like that sold in my area for 18K about two years ago.
I bought a black 80 CBX in 1988 for about $1800 then sold it to a dealer three years later for $2K, he shipped it to Japan.
I also bought a silver 79 CBX in 1990 for $2500 and sold it to the same dealer a few years later for about $3K, he also shipped it to Japan.
I also bought a red 77 Benelli for $6K in 2000 and sold it to a Honda dealer a few years later for about the same price, he still has it.
To me, selling a bike for the same money as what I paid for it was better than buying new and then selling for less.
The bike I have now is an 80 that was someone else's project, that I won't sell unless something better comes up.
