Please post all pictures of VMD and related stories in this thread, so it will be easy to find for those who constantly claim it is difficult to do so.
It seems like VMD at Mid-Ohio has not been written off yet, in spite of all the badmouthing of certain self-proclaimed experts about the bad weather and other unbearable conditions. Many people who play significant roles in and around vintage bikes - and the CBX in particular - were present this year (again). There were Randall Washington of Randakk's Cycle Shack, Bill Brint of Tim's CBX and Jim Zemanek of CinciCycles.
There were several CBXes for sale in the swapmeet again and there was a significant CBX presence in the paddock, which drew quite some attention away from ongoing races when spectators watched the expertly carried out exchange of footpeg plates to optimize the horespower per weight ratio of one of the machines.
Bill Brint actually had so much people pestering him about CBX issues that he decided to go incognito and wear a Ducati shirt for a while in order to be able to hide in the crowd of the pretenders.
Let's see these pics!

Fine! Let's start:
Although we (the ICOA) were not putting up the lunch feast as in previous years, the Honda Pavillon was still being reserved and was used as a meeting point and hospitality spot. Diane and Dave MCMunn had set up a cooler with cold drinks for those who were parched and it came in handy during the scorching heat.
First things first, of course, and when you are there early, a trip to the swapmeet is a must, to make sure you don't miss any rare deals.
Although there seemed to be an unusual high number of dirt bikes and Kawasaki Triples for sale this year, there weres till CBXes and CBX parts.
This one was in mediocre condition, I didn't hear it run, but the price seemed to be right, asking less than 5K
While this set of body work was sure a tad pricey, considering the off color

Now, if your portfolio has completely recovered and you don't know what to do with all that money, you could buy yourself a turnkey Cafe racer
Or a restored Norton Commando.....
Or something really rare, that nobody else you know has, of which only 60 were made...

The tallest stories of the weekend were told in the paddock. I am not sure what Jan Ringnalda, Dave Mc Munn and Randall Washington were debating....
..but it had to do something with making "Sweepings" more competitive with Bill Brint's racer through weight savings by lightening the footpeg plates - if they are installed properly!
Of course, Bill Brint, who went into hiding and put a Ducati shirt on after every Tom, Dick and Harry wanted to talk CBX with him, could only laugh about that....

Thanks for posting your great pics, Mike.
Did you participate in any of the buying and selling of projects?

No, Steve, not really. We took my wife's custom Sportster down and put a For Sale sign on, but no bites. I bought a few Dollar items, bulk fuel line and fuel filters and I found a great condition center exhaust for a 1973 Kawasaki H1. That's all.

I was at Mid-Ohio with 3 CBXs, went by the pavillion at least 4 times and there was no one there.
I sure missed the second tent like in years gone by for a place to hang out. Missed not having a nice lunch too.
Additionally, at $60 a person for the weekend pass I felt that was pretty steep.
Seems like no one saw my latest one..........
And then there was the RAIN! That didn't help either.

JR, did the '82 sell?

Neither the naked or the stock '82 sold. A few interested folks but, no deposits.
I truly believe either the rain or the cost of admission or the combination of the two, scared people away.

Mike, that Musket 998 is amazing. Mad skills for that guy.
Here is a clip of it on the road.

I also went by the tent around 2:00 PM and it was empty. We sat in at the tables for about 30 minutes or so. Not one CBX there. The banner was there though.
