Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....

Easy one for me......picture 4....Marlinton Show Bike Winner. Great rally memories....

>>>>>>

For a while there Aaron brought CBXs like this to Marlinton and attendees would just take what parts they needed...no cost...not hassle. One year he found an 82.....stripped the tank, seat, bags, fenders off it and sat them on the Marlinton Motel parking lot pavement in the same orientation they came off the bike.......

About 2am each night and many beers.... someone would look down at the parts and then ask if the rest of that CBX was buried in the pavement.  You had to have been there. Anyone got a pix of this

That bike in the background was his superless single that somehow ended up on the second floor balcony late one night.......

Thx Dan for finding this pix

Every picture tells a story.... I like Mike's! But knowing what came of Bob Brook's project, it definitely has to be a contender :!:

Hi Mike

After your post I have changed my mind.........photo 3 is my also my fave now.

Brian Weir of Ontario was the guy in the photo taken in his driveway the day he took delivery of a late model in that was mostly in parts. In the Xpress he told us the details of the restoration in a three or four part series....some humor, some pain...but he kept on until it was done. I liked his writing style alot.

The outcome was he did finish the bike up.........rode it a bit ....then had to sell it. Brian was injured in a ultra light crash and this effected his balance and other motor skills somewhat and the CBX was just a bit heavy and fast for him and his condition. It was a sad ending as he told me how it all turned on on the phone one evening, but a wise decision on his part given the circumstances.

This was a great Xpress read in my view...not so much on the technical aspects of a restoration, but rather the "human" aspects of doing the work. I will see if I have a cc of it and post it for everyone in the upcoming months inc the pix.

No problem here Mike
I don`t mind being accused of doing something good for a change.
It`s usually the other way around for me.

Someone at the Morganton National Rally had to buy it if I recall.......I will ask him the next time we talk.

The two he brought to Marlinton for attendees to snag parts they needed were in even worse condition if I recall......too long ago for me to remember though.
