I purchased this bike in January 2023. It was running, but needed a few things sorted. The folks on this forum were an immense help and I can't thank them enough.
A list of items addressed is below, a detailed log with notes is attached as well. It needs absolutely nothing right now and can be ridden anywhere. I have talken it on multiple 100+ mls trips with no problems after getting it ready.
- 1980 CBX 1000, 20,343 mls, clean title in my name
Repainted under previous ownership in excellent quality
Carbs disassembled, cleaned, pilot jets removed
Reassembled with Randakk's carb kit, new carb T-vents, carbs synced on the bike
Valves checked (3 valves needed reshimming)
Valve cover reinstalled with OEM Honda valve cover gasket and new valve cover bolt seals
Sourced and refitted original airbox with new paper air filter
Installed new oil lines from Terry Schmidt
Front and rear brakes rebuilt with new pistons and brake pads
Both brake master cylinders rebuilt
New battery and new Shinko tires
New fork seals, progressive shocks in rear
Electrical systems (brushes, rotor, stator, alternator clutch) tested
New reg/rec installed, all electrical connections cleaned, LED bulb installed in headlight
Typical clutch rattle mitigated with new clutch rubber blocks
Corbin Seat
Supertrapp muffler with 6-in-1 DG header
Instruments and alternator rebuilt by previous owner
Chain and sprockets are excellent
Many chrome covers
Original tools and owners manual, CBX T-shirt
One key for ignition, tank, helmet lock, trunk, extra spare key
