Daily Reports & Pix: Vintage Days Mid-Ohio July 27-29
I know there is an e-mail info about it on the Brewer line. Who from here, who is not over there, is going?
We go down Thursday night to set up camp and then ride back and forth every day. It is only 82 miles from my home. As always, Cindy and I are part of a group of friends from the AMA and we have a makeshift residence comprised of several motorhomes and trailers parked outside of turn 13 (the Carousel), very close to the ICOA meeting point, the Honda "Pavilion" (which is more like a pole barn )
Stop by and see us.

Well, it started with the usual chaos on Thursday afternoon at the gate.
It has been the same for several years now, ever since track management started to restrict access on that day. 1,500 people arrive from all over the North American continent not knowing that only racers, swap meet vendors and season pass holders are officially allowed to enter the premises on that day. Of course, they have to abandon the published rules. The good people of Mid-Ohio just have no concept..... It doesn't help that the AMA says in their fliers that campers will be allowed in on Thursday, but the track officials say only season pass holders and only after 7:00 p.m. Stay tuned We'll be back. Don't click that mouse.

You have to, Chris. It is worth it. A short walk through the swa(m)p meet, and for the trained eye, it is always easy to spot the CBXes:
..the first one among Ric Seel's RiverX collection of bikes. Clean 79 with under 6,000 miles on the odometer of a bright, no fade instrument:
..and the price is:
..the next one, hidden among a few other basket cases, a Marysville 1980 in need of a lot of tlc. For only $2,300:
But at least, it has a VIN-number to proof its heritage, unlike some other much more expensive CBXes you may have seen:
...the 3rd one, another silver low mile 79
...and the price is
Finally, No 4, one more silver 79. This one with some aftermarket and some later replacement parts:
..at least this one is moderately priced What am I talking about

Today, Saturday, the weather seemed to improve alittle. No rain when we started out. Racing could commence on time and began with one of my favorite categories: Sidecars You just don't see these that often anymore.
A walk through the paddock, unveiled some nice machines. Just a few random shots:
..and of course, one bike most of you may be familiar with even if you're not interested in vintage racing
