Hello all, Bill Dudleston here, a new member as of yesterday, looking forward to being part of the CBX group.
I bought a 1981 CBX in 2016 for retirement project, it was not in running condition, it did turn over but had no intention of starting.
I finally retired in April of this year after 50 years in the manufacturing business, wow that went quick.
I started on the bike in June, pretty much have gone through most all of it, starting at ground level and working up.
I first started it a couple weeks sounded sweet with the 6 into 6 pipes I installed.
Once the bike got warmed up, it had a pretty good oil leak dripping onto my lift and making a nice mess.
Stripped it down a bit and found a 40 year old oil line leaking, who would have thought.
Waiting for my remanufactured lines to show up, actually the wife says they need to go under the tree, so it will be after Christmas before I get back on my project.
Too cold out there right now anyway at 8 degrees this morning.
Just thought I would say hello.

Thanks all for the welcome.
I have ordered valve shims from CBX performance when I was doing valve adjustment, so
I went with them on making my oil lines, not sure who Terry is.

I am still stumbling around this web site, not sure how to include a picture yet.

I do have pictures of rebuilding the CBX as I went along, some are good some not so good.
Started with new tires, rear disc, new breaks, replace break fluids, new Progressive mono shock, carburetor rebuilds, valve adjustment, new Dyna coils, new Dyna ignition and now new oil lines, I hope I am running out of things to replace and get this bike back together so I can ride it.

Besides my CBX, I have a 1979 CB750 that I have almost completed, the CB750 looks a lot like the CBX, just smaller and 2 less cylinders and a not so common a 1969 500cc single, Velocette Thruxton, that I have completely restored, including, Gear box, new bonded clutch discs with slotted friction discs, new cylinder, piston, rings, a valve job, new front forks and bushings and on and on.

Some great 'toys' there Bill. And, even more fun bringing them back to life. One more 'mod' to recommend for the X -- RaceTech gold valves for the forks. Along with the Progressive shock, it will make it a really good ride.

U dun gooood, Bill. Thanks for the photos. Great 'hobby shop'! The bike looks super. (I know what you mean about the choke springs.!)

If you didn't extract the idle (pilot) jets to clean them and the circuits they feed, you're not done yet.

Get the simple but special tool to do it and the "how to" video I made along with anything else here:

Also, discard the "filters" attached to the float seats. 1. You won't know when they're clogged. 2. Difficult/near impossible to service 3. Weren't used on later Honda's anyway. 4. Install a good inline filter between the petcock and rack. 5. Optional - remove the AVF, get in the habit of turning the petcock off when the motor isn't running.
