Electric fuel shut off for the lazy and or redundant!

Saw this on a seller’s CBX on BaT, no more vacuum diaphragms to deal with, no more manual petcocks to turn off, pretty slick inexpensive way to stop your carbs from overflowing, on when your ignition is turned on, off when it’s turned off.

Where’s EMS when you need him!

That might look okay on my 1949 Farmall, but I hesitate to try to find a place to hide it on a CBX.

Oh, it won't work on my Farmall as it's a 6v system.

You won't be able to run the carbs dry with that installed.

Just use the petcock. Rebuild it or replace it if defective.

For the '82 CBX, I alter brand new 1100F petcocks to have the outlet face aft. Sell for $100.
For the earlier models you can buy a VITON disc from Randakk's.

You most certainly can run the carbs dry, you just turn your tank petcock to the OFF position and run the bike until the carbs are dry, the procedure is no different, this is an electric shut off not a pump!

The only 'kicker' that I see is having to turn on the ignition to fill the carbs. In the US with the lights 'always on', this presents a bit of battery drain before starting. Just don't go back into the shed to pee (or) before you decide to push the starter button!! Otherwise, neat idea. (I don't do the 'run it dry' thing. Just drain.)

Yes, it's JUST an electric valve. BUT, there already is a valve known as the petcock. There is no need to be redundant or lazy.

Having a tank petcock in good working order and using it is your first line of defense, unfortunately a large number of CBX owners have removed their vacuum shutoff because the diaphragm has failed. Honda engineered the bike to have a secondary shut off for a reason, it’s well documented. This electric valve is good dependable alternative to the old vacuum shutoff system.
