I have seen this on a couple forums.
Is it in fact a real motorcycle or just a model for display?
Should have a mock-up of Freddie standing beside it.

It would not comply with any of our historic racing rules. Flat side carbs were from a later period and the modern brakes and front end would not pass scrutineering.

I'm curious about what appears to be a central alloy tank or box. Does anybody know its purpose? Fuel, oil or electrics?

Looks like it's a remote oil tank, if you follow oil hoses. Oil pan seems to have been removed, oil cooler hoses are both connecting to the left side, next to each other.
Clutch cover is different with clutch cable connecting to the bottom right instead of the top.

If you remove the oil pan and have a dry sump, you would need a totally different oil pump. The problem then is, how to feed oil pressure to the crank bearings. I am not saying he didn't do it, but it is easier to do in a virtual reality image than in real life.
