If the other parts look as good as the front fender, I'd, likely, leave well-enough alone, Ross. Great stuff!

Ah yes, but I am a cunning photographer. Here's the other side of the fender...... :(

The red dot on the master cylinder is on the small end facing the left handle bar. I did not know this when painting mine so missed it. Maybe someone else can post a picture to show you eactly where it is positioned.

I looked for pictures but this was the best I could come up with. You can see the red dot right at the beginning of this video and right before he starts the bike. Hope this helps.

This is the best I could find. If you look closely, you see the red dot on the brake master cyclinder.

AJS350 & EMS thanks for the pics.

One last question, do all 79 front m/cylinder have the red dot? I believe mine to be original and it does not have the dot.

Thanks

Hi from South Brazil. I am restoring a 1978 CBX1000 and wonder the calipers red dot diameter to reproduce then, and if they are bright or matte.

This is my second resto experience, my first was a september 1969 CB750 K0 Sandcast that is the only one in South America, maybe in the Latin America.

Thanks.

I a just getting started on a factory appearing brake resto, both mechanical and cosmetic. First step was tear down. I will post the painting as it progresses. The calibers were cleaned, glass beaded, and next they will go in the ultrasonic cleaner to get the glass beads out and the passages open.

Next step is painting red. Into the oven for 1 hour 30 minutes at 200 degrees.

Then I cut a circle . 43 inches out of blue masking tape. And applied it to he correct spot on the rear master cylinder.

Then I masked the rest of the master cylinder. I put a bolt into a threaded hole to hold he master cylinder and locked the bolt into a pair of vice grips.

Then I laid on the black high temp engine paint, first i put on a light coat and let it dry for ten minutes, then when the light coat is tacky I lay on the heavy coat, the tacky first coat will hold the paint and prevent runs.

Back into the oven at 1 hour 30 minutes At 200 degrees. The vice grip still holds the bolt and keeps the wet master cylinder of the oven rack.

Next I have to figure out to do the calibers.
