Tank Bags
The Tour master "TRIBAG" ($143.00 @ MAW) works extremly well on my 82'. Recommend by a long time X'er, once slipped back toward the seat it holds a lot, even without the top bag attached. Several outside pouches too. Also, add the matching tailbag (tour Master TB-17 $53@ MAW.) It fits and mounts nicely behind you, with a few outside pockets as well. JJD

TANK BAGS.... CAN TANK YOUR TANK
hi steve
i sent you a pm on this ....and wella ...the pm is not working again so here goes
>>>>
i would not recommend any tank bag for the cbx. the paint, top tank decal and side stripes are just too vunerable (my eclipse tank bag tanked my tank over time and severe damage can happen if one sand pebble gets between the tank pad and the cbx tank)
an alternative is to buy a magnetic map holder from aerostitch for the tank which is a smaller damage risk ....then put all your other stuff in a bag that mounts on the passenger seat and has securing adjustable straps to hook to the side grab rails.
this works great and the x handles far better than with a tank bag esp in the twisties..... and there is no risk of paint or other damage.
where to get one of these wonder bags.......i wont be using mine for a long time so if you want e me your us mail address and i can sent it to you to test out .... then you can decide if it works for you or not...and go from there

Tank bags
I too, was deathly concerned about my beloved tank. It ain't much, but it's all I have! After talking with several long time RIDERS with bags, and seeing 1st hand no ill-effects on the tank, I gave in. Granted if you don't clean/keep clean the mounting pad it will leave a mark. Geez, grit in the wash bucket will do the same. Point is, unless you have a showroom, unridden example sitting in the living room, It would appear with a little caution about where you lay the bag when NOT on the bike, a bag could be used without to much concern.
I'm with Mike on the tailbag, its a great place to carry stuff when your solo. The late models have the grab rail right there for ty-downs. JJD #4112
