Tsubaki Omega O Ring 630 here with Pro Honda HP chain lube with teflon and moly. My 1360cc Suzy runs a shaft. :)
It ain't the destination, its the journey...

My orig 81 chain lated 21,500 miles (Tsubaki?) now its an RK. I re-geared to a 40 rear, now it looks like I shoulda removed a link or 2, the adjusters read "replace". Should I bother? Wheelbase is stretched a good 1/2 inch, too.
75 Kawa F7, 71 CB500-4, 79 750F, 82 750 Sabre, 83 Suzuki XN85 TURBO, 81 CBX, 69 CB750 X 14 (like those old Honda's a little)

I'm going to a 38. How many did you end up removing for the 40? Thanks.

Watch out! This post is 7 years old! You may not get an answer from Andy! I think he sold his 81X and is no longer among the CBXers
