Oil pan question...

Post by steve murdoch icoa #5322 »

I recently read in a post about reversing the oil pan cover so the drain plug is towards the rear of the engine.
I have a Marshall[Jama] 6-1 that blocks access to the oil drain plug.
Is this doable?
Is this another one of the hundred things about the CBX that everybody knows but me?

Found this question while searching for other info. I recently dropped my oil pan and the inside has ribs / diverters / pockets that trap gunk and debris away from the screen and toward the drain hole. I don't know how these "pockets" line up with what is above (pick up screen).

I don't think the pickup/screen is located in the center of the pan. It will most likely not line up with the baffle rib and the three protrusions if you turn the pan around. Physically, it can be done, but if it works properly...I don't know :? :?

Get a spare pan, weld a bung in the rear of it for a drain plug, get a patent on the idea, go into business producing CBX oil pan's with re-located drain holes, retire to Key West and buy a deap sea fishing boat with the profits and invite all your CBX owning friends down for a Marlin tournament. Yes I live in California and drink the water.

:D :D :D I don't think that the profits from 10,000 or so modified CBX oil pans will buy any real estate in Key West. Not even in the current market ....then again, if a used CBX is worth $16,000.- a good oil pan should be at least $800.- , shouldn't it :?: :?:
Sales of $8 Million, total cost of $500,000.- , taxes of $2.6 Million...that could work....
