Hello all,
I have been replacing all my cover bolts and my upper motor mount front & rear hanger bolts with titanium taper socket head screws/bolts,the stuff is expensive but saves weight(important if you got a racebike and want to save ounces) :) and sure looks nice! Go to: www.racebolts.com and enter the site,they have a decent selection of titanium screws,bolts,nuts,& drain plugs & such to choose from,just figure out the thread diameter,pitch,& length needed and they should have about anything you need.They are also expeditious about shipping orders,I've had stuff from them in 2 days,although they are fairly close to me,being in San Diego and I am in L.A.area.
Check 'em out if anyone has a need for this sort of thing.

From a safety perspective, keep in mind that titanium has a modulus of elasticity about half that of steel. That means that under load it will, essentially, stretch/bend about twice as much as steel. Determine what this means to function when replacing steel parts and/or fasteners with titanium. Admittedly, it does look 'bitchin'! On the other hand, about the most you will save is on the order of 2 pounds by replacing all your steel fasteners with Ti at what cost. Other parts like exhaust, well, if you have the $$$$, go for it. That would be a whale of a weight save on an X.

Some people have the need to constantly emphasize that their bikes are "special", have superior modifications and performance and stand apart from the rest of our "Tom, Dick and Harry" rides. Over this, they lose sight (or never had it) what actually makes sense and what doesn't and throw out monikers and descriptions of modifications that make you cringe.

Yup. I got into CBXs because I wanted to build a "hot-rod" bike, sort of like my CB836Kafe, but bigger. Fortunately, I joined the club and quickly determined that if I wanted performance, it would a lot cheaper to just buy a faster bike. Thus the CBR-XX. Still a mid performer by today's standards, but a heck of a lot of fun.

That said, I love looking at someone else's custom. And especially knowing that I wasn't the one digging into my wallet.

Well said Rick! All the enjoyment of the ride without all the expense. Or put another way, that extra money goes to buy gas and pay motel bills.

Thanks Harvey. Fortunately, I got the desire to hot rod out of my system, but I still love to see what others can do. The skill and imagination they posess sometimes takes my breath away.

But I save my nickels for other things, like the rig and the time to go to Colorado......
