OEM sprockets?
I searched the forum but I see different responses to the question regarding the OEM sprockets (front & back) for the 1978 CBX 1000... Am I correct that it is 18 teeth front and 42 rear? Does this change with a 530 chain conversion? Regards!

Re: OEM sprockets?
You can probably find it closer to home but Bob At CBXPerformance sells a 530 conversion package.

Stock '79 sprockets were 15/35 with a 630 chain. '80-'82 were 18/42 with a 530 chain.

Re: OEM sprockets?
Thanks Dave. It seems to be the same ratio of 2.33 then... If I upgrade to a 530 chain the two sprockets will be 18/42 and the actual gearing will not change. Regards!

Yes, that was Honda's intention - to keep the same ratio. They got it about perfect and wanted to keep it there. Just know that the chain tensioners for the 530 chain (stock on the '80) are a bit longer. If you use the original '79 ones for the 630 chain, adjustment will be more limited, but certainly OK if you can't find a set of '80 adjusters.
