1979 Air filter

Post by BallAquatics »

Will the paper air filters on the later models also fit the 1979 model? If so is it better to change to the paper or simply replace the foam on the original filter?

Cheers - Dennis

Paper filters work just fine. If you buy aftermarket make sure you glue some foam weatherstrip on the filter on the side that contacts the airbox inlet.

I like to use the original foam sock over the wire mesh frame, if you still have the frame. The foam is still available from various sources. But as Terry said, the later paper filter is fine as well. Just don't use the K&N drop-in replacement.
