New 38 year old tires.

My 1979 CBX has new 38 year old tires, hard as a hockey puck!
What is the best way to remove the old tires without harming the Comstars?

Very careful. I would leave them in the hot sun if possible as long as you can and then dismount them.

Any shop with a modern tire changer can pop them right off. They really are pretty flimsy once the bead is broken. Don’t fight them yourself.

I use an oscillating saw and cut away all the rubber away leaving just two rings that are easy enough to remove.
