That was just a test question to see if you remembered.

My wife and I used to live near Austin at Pace Bend Park and I commuted
the 35 miles each way on my 76 CB750F* to work at Austin Kawasaki.
My first introduction to the great hill country roads years before that was
with a group of friends who introduced me to road racing on RM2222 before
all the stoplights were put in. Austin was a really cool place before it got
all built out. I made it to Aquafest 13 straight years when they held road races
on the streets around the coliseums and Riverside dr. was the straight.
I really miss it, good times.

Bobcat, we moved here 22 years ago and it's a different world now! 1431 out to Marbe Falls was one of my favorite roads, now it's all straighted out and developments everywhere! RM 2222 is one traffic light after another!
New 1980 CBX owner as of January 2023!
Other bikes: BMW R1200GS, BMW R80 G/S, BMW R75/5
Previous bikes: Several SOHC Hondas and KZ's, a few BMWs, Honda CT, HD Fatboy, XL 500, DR 750, RD 350, CB250....

Bob, Same here, I use to ride my 71 Honda CB500F every weekend I could or just sometimes for the day up there, I lived in Morgans Point east of Houston go up in the morning hit FM 2222 to Fm 620 towards Mansfield Dam sometimes turn off on FM2322 to Paleface park and back home that night.
I made most of the Race's at AquaFest as well , #73 "The Hogman" was treat to watch there, as was a young Freddie Spencer and Kevin Schwantz really great times.

Don't particularly care to drive in Austin anymore but do go to the MotoGP race at COTA and The HandBuild Motorcycle show usually that same Saturday as the Race weekend.

Sorry for the highjack, brought back really good times.

 jt ! Oh man does that bring back some great memories !!! That route
you describe is what I rode every day to work and back. Paleface Park
is now named Pace Bend Park off Hwy 71. Hogman and I were best friends
in more recent years before his passing. We used to do some crazy street
"riding" along with a friend with a CBX. Ah the stories from Aquafest ! :o :D 8)

oroepke, the first time I rode 2222 there was only 2 stoplights out from where it begins.
The rest of it was 4 lanes of wfo joy all the way to 620. As well 1431 was unhindered by
traffic signals. There were so many great roads to ride fast on and it pains me to think
it could all be suburbia now. The Hill "country" seems to be disappearing fast. We have
tried to move back there several times but the housing market is so tight and expensive
that we gave up. "keep Austin weird" ! 8)

Oh, a few great places to test tires still exist I hope. :D

And to chime in, we're traveling through Texas at the moment, very near Austin headed for Bandera, where we'll be for 5 weeks. Sitting in a campground near Lampasas this morning. And yes, we have motorcycles with us.......

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

WOW Rick ! Bandera, motorcycles and 5 weeks ! In my dreams....
You will have some great riding at your doorstep. Keep safe and, in keeping
with this thread, please give us a tire report. :D

Wow racing on Auditorium Chores! Unimaginable these days! So much change in the 22 years I have been here. But west of Fredericksburg there are still wide open spaces! I ride there whenever I can, when I am not working on bikes.
Re HandBuiltShow, I should have my R80G/S in there this time, BMW is a big part of the show and they want some original bikes too. Alan from Revival Cycles who is organizing the show asked me to submiit my bike.
Can't wait to try out the Hill Country on a CBX, definitely a different handling bike to what I am used to!

Too chilly to roll the bikes out og the garage so far, but may get them out today. The GRiSO is a fine machine for these roads. It's been twenty-tw0 years since I rode a CBX in this area, but it was great fun too.
