No need to use anything other than correct pins with Plastifix. They offer a material that resembles Play-Doh, which you use to make a mold of a good pin. Remove and fill the mold with the Plastifix powder, and the liquid portion and there you have it. New pin ready to be attached to panel.

And yes, a little silicone grease on the grommets makes life easier on said pins.

Good stuff, wyly. Plastifix highly recommended by Motorcycle Consumer News. Another epoxy-type stuff that I've found good is Plastic Bonder by Loctite. Use it with fiberglass cloth for structure. Finish with Bondo.

Ah yes. I forgot about using heat to warm the molding bar. It's been a while, but I can still smell the liquid part of the mix. Pretty nasty stuff.

Agree that it's best to just repair the broken tab, but it's not difficult to fab a new one. The molding bar becomes very pliable when warm.
